Welcome in the Courtinière house

Sainte Honorine La Guillaume - 61210 -

A cocoon in the heart of Normandy

This house is rated "2 epis" by the Gites de France society and will give you satisfaction (Normand house, rather old but fully renovated, cosy and quiet). Our region is very interesting, geologically speaking: we are on the top of a granit mass, and many different sandstone species can be found in the wood near the house.
Fully stand-alone, the house is close to our own residence (about 100m) et we will know how to advise you cool places. We may become friends, who knows ?

Through your stay at the Courtinière house, we want to share our passion for this country with you.

Let us show you

"la Suisse Normande"

the Norman welcome !!!

Born in this house, the house of our parents and where we grew, sons of farmers, we live near this house, not being ourselves farmers. In the same mind, we continue to share this true love for earth, for this magnificent landscapes: green valleys, flowers, climbing rocks, torrential rivers...

Here is the "Norman-Swiss" of calm and relaxation, of beautiful landscapes, of hollow ways, pedestrian and moutain-bike routes...

Near the house (150 meters away ), you'll find a big forest, with pedestrian routes and about 1 mile away the river "The Rouvre". A few kilometers away, stand a very beautiful place, called 'Les Roches d'Oetre" which is a very high cliff -very impressive and geologically-speaking interesting-. Not so far is the "Maison de la rivière et des paysages", a place where you'll discover the life of the river, the growth of fishes, and learn about human activities based on the river, and the typical landscapes of our country. In the marsh "Marais du Hazé" near the town of Briouze, has been set biotechnical tours to get a better approach of our environment. If you are in love with nature you will also appreciate the "Gorges de Saint-Aubert", with its ruins of the old village (especially the ancient church).

You will also appreciate other nautical activities in Pont d'Ouilly, a nice little town with kayak and water-polo clubs, its tea-garden and also the lake of Rabodanges, an artificial lake with water-skiing and yachts. To be seen also : the Valley of Athis, with broom and furze, this kind of little switzerland... Visit Putanges, this town with the river Orne, is a quiet and beautiful little village.

From 30 to 65 km around, you will easilly reach:

  • Beaches for swimming / fishing, or to keep in memory the 1944 landings, the D-Day.
  • Bagnoles de l'Orne a thermal city.
  • Cerisy Belle-Etoile and its rhododendrons-covered hill.
  • Clecy, with kayak, cliff climbing, deltaplane.
  • Falaise and William the conqueror castle.
  • Chambois, historical site where thousands of soldiers died during 1944 events.
  • Stud farms, such as the 'Haras du pin', a national stud farm, well-known in France. The horse lovers will also appreciate the Percherons, a local horse breed.
  • The viaduc of the Souleuvre and elastic fall (only for the braves !!).
